And so the countdown to Christmas begins, present shopping and wrapping, writing cards, Christmas parties and visiting friends and family. For some it is very exciting and they just love everything to do with Christmas and for others it can be a time of stress, worry and anxiety.
To be able to help to reduce this stress and anxiety all we need to do is simply relax, but for many this is far easier said than done. Fortunately, yoga can help teach you to relax and to stay calm and collected in tough situations, while also fostering a sense of happiness and harmony. Yoga strengthens both the mind and body. There are different types of yoga and those which emphasize slow, steady and gentle movements are ideal for conquering stress and very much in keeping with this time of the year when the earth is drawing inwards and preparing for the winter season.
Yoga is a great stress reliever for the festive season. Practicing yoga regularly will help you to focus on what important while strengthening you both physically and mentally. It doesn’t need to be a long intense session, 5 mins here and there where you focus on your breath can allow you to become present, grounded and in control.
If you haven’t done yoga before then finding a teacher that can guide you is a great starting place and the internet is full of short practises that can really help if you know what you are doing.
This, in turn, will help you to find enjoyment and peace from spending time with family and loved ones. You will be better able to face any challenges that may arise while cultivating a sense of joy, happiness and peace during the holidays.
